Rybatlon Team Dynamic Relay Rules

The aim is to swim the longest distance in the sum of all four dynamics (2x DYN, 2xDNF), while keeping following rules:

There will be two competitors in a team, one man and one woman. For exceptions see the penalties. Each competitor swims one DYN and one DNF. The order of disciplines isn't fixed, you can start with DYN or DNF.

The final distance is not required to be announced.

Before the start, the competitors agree on the places where the switches will be done (i.e. how long will each of them swim). The distances are not required to be announced.

Velcro tag (same as for depth competitions) is passed while the competitors are switching.

The handover of the tag must be performed underwater – the first competitor is still underwater in the time when the second starts her/his dive. The switch can be done at any part of the competing line.

The protocol is not required after the switches. The competitor can even dip his/her mounth under the water or so, but a blackout is not allowed, naturally.

At the end of the relay the protocol has to be shown.

The competitor is not allowed to touch anybody during the whole relay except for his/her partner in the relay.

One grab is allowed for both competitors during each switch.

When the tag is dropped during the relay, the competitor who dropped it has to return for it. Otherwise it is considered as a switch (with all the rules applied to the switch).

Each relay is judged by 3 other freedivers who know these rules. The result is established by voting. Each relay can have a different set of judges.

Penalties:

If the first competitor during the switch comes out of the water and the second does not start his/her dive yet, there is a penalty of 20m for every such switch. When both competitors are out of the water longer than 3 seconds, they are disqualified.

When the competitors are both men, only 80% of their final distance is admitted.

When the competitors are both women, they have to try hard because they have no advantage (and no penalty as well).

When the tag is not carried to the end, the team is disqualified.
